Lui s'en tient à son flux de conscience: "I'm content, necessarily, but not to the point of clapping my hands. While waiting I shall tell myself stories if I can".

"You’ve turned me into
the armchair
Intimacy is not visual, it is not a show
Luce Irigaray
The image of a man. He’s sitting on a armchair, drinking beer. He’s smoking. He looks calm, listening to classic music. A voice - off is talking with a journalistic style about an insurance consultant, and then after a while, starts talking in the same tone, about the investigation of a monster who killed two little girls and dismembered their bodies, and so on.
What kind of relationship is there, between images and words?
Which role does the information and entertainment system play in our perception of reality?
Sensations produced by images are affected by words.
Images and sounds change constantly and ask me to open up to a further interpretation.
This project looks into the relationship between image and word.
It deals with the relationship between the event and the interpretation of it, according to the projective logic of sense attribution. The endless building of the world, realized by the entertainment industry, it’s here related with the emptiness from which that same industry protects us. Like in a sort of cut up process, texts combine the language of cinema’s trailers, psychiatric textbooks and news. The resulting text becomes a voice - off sounding like facts descriptions in a documentary style. Ambiguity is therefore given by the relationship between words and images, between what is described as a fact, and what is presented through images.
Language, as instrument for denoting the world univocally, crashes into the ambiguous multiplicity of reality. This project points out the need for breaking the continuity of representation usually offered by mass media.
This video wants to give a plural vision, not based on the prevailing of one fragment on another. The real meaning, the sense of the sequence, can be found only in the space between fragments, in the fracture within speech continuity.
In the fighting between the sense attribution and the rhythm of the image’s development, the project aims to focus on the image itself, beyond what we are used to perceive in it.
The wish is to question the symbolic and metaphoric attribution of sense assigned to images."

Teatro Ocra\ dominavideo is a cultural association founded in 2001 by the Italian brothers Toni Garbini (Sarzana 10- 07- 1967) and Diego Garbini (Sarzana 19- 03- 1973).
Both graduated at Parma University, they developed respectively an interest in contemporary dance and theatre, and the relationship between theatre and video in Italy. Toni and Diego Garbini gained their experience through workshops and professional theatrical performances, focusing their interest in direction, editing and technical scenic installation. Through years their work has focused on social reality, exploring issues connected with prison or psychiatric institutions, physical or mental inabilities and adolescence years, producing theatrical performances, video documentations and video installations. Today Teatro Ocra - Domina Video is pointing its research towards the relationship between video documentary, literature and experimental cinema.
